Introduction Educators often spend hours preparing lesson notes that align with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) curriculum. With Artificial Intelligence (AI), this process can be faster, more accurate, and more engaging for learners. In this blog, we’ll explore how to use AI prompts with NERDC topics to generate professional lesson plans in minutes.

Step 1: Identify the Curriculum Topic

  • Go to your NERDC curriculum guide.

  • Select the subject and topic you want to teach.

  • Example: English Language – SS1 – Vocabulary Development (Topic: Vocabulary Associated with Home and Family).

Step 2: Take a Screenshot of the Curriculum Page

Screenshots help you capture the exact learning objectives and content requirements. Store them in a folder so you can easily reference them while creating AI prompts.

Step 3: Create an AI Prompt  Use this template to prompt AI:

First Prompt

“Create a lesson plan for [Subject, Class Level, Topic] based on the NERDC curriculum. Ensure it includes learning objectives, teaching aids, step-by-step lesson development, class activities, and assessment questions, and address it to the life and career of learners following the attached image.”

Example Prompt:

“Create a lesson plan for English Language, SS1, Topic: Narrative Essay Writing, based on the NERDC curriculum. Ensure it includes learning objectives, teaching aids, step-by-step lesson development, class activities, and assessment questions, and address it to the life and career of learners following the attached image.”Second Prompt

As an educator coming on Live to teach learners, make a script for a 45 minutes class with the content above.

Step 4: Review and Adjust  The AI will generate a draft. Compare it with your NERDC screenshot to make sure the objectives match. Then, adjust for your classroom needs.

Conclusion  AI is not here to replace teachers but to support them. With the NERDC curriculum and simple AI prompts, you can save time and focus more on engaging with your students.
