How to Train Yourself to Write Better AI Prompts for Lesson Planning

ree

Introduction The quality of your AI output depends on the quality of your prompts. Here’s how teachers can improve prompt-writing for NERDC-based lesson plans.

Tip 1: Be Specific  Instead of saying:

“Make a lesson plan for Biology.” Say: “Create a 40-minute lesson plan for Biology SS1, Topic: Photosynthesis, based on NERDC curriculum, including objectives, practical activities, and short-answer assessment questions, make sure to align with students' life and career development.”

Tip 2: Include Context from Your Screenshot  Copy the learning objectives from the screenshot directly into the prompt.

Example:

“Generate a lesson plan for Chemistry SS2, Topic: Acids, Bases, and Salts, based on NERDC curriculum. Objectives: (1) Define acids and bases (2) Explain neutralization (3) Perform simple lab test. The lesson plan should include teaching aids, introduction, content breakdown, and assessment, and align with career development.”

Tip 3: Refine and Reuse  Save your best prompts in a notebook. Over time, you’ll have a library of ready-to-use AI prompts for every subject and class level.

Conclusion  Prompting is a skill every 21st-century educator should learn. By combining NERDC curriculum screenshots with clear AI prompts, teachers can consistently produce effective lesson plans that meet WAEC and classroom standards.
